I just took the Twingo to an indy mechanic specialised in Renaults to replace the front brakes (driving through the Alps was tough on the ageing discs and pads in). Look what they gave me as a courtesy car: A first gen Twingo!
I’d never driven one, but they feel way more spaceous than the Twingo II, probably because of the dashboard being further away. It’s way more cushier to drive than the II as well, but that added comfort is taken away completely by the noise it makes on the highway.

how does it handle?

It’s a bit wallowy, but due to its low weight it also feels a bit go-kart like

If we find a track in France next April, we should do a Twingo challenge. Source the cheapest running local mk1 Twingo (with decent brakes/clutch/tires) , and see who can get the fastest time.

Expecting a detailed and thorough Oppo review!
I love the design on it, it’s very De Stijl. Do you like it? Is it slow?

That sounds pretty fun! It can also double as a penalty car or backup car :p

Haha, of course! I’ll see if I can write something about it :)
It looks pretty sharp! They also have a Twingo II and Clio III with the same design, but it fits the Twingo I best.
I like it, but it’s not as good as mine on the highway. It does feel pretty punchy, definitely faster than I expected. But that’s probably due to the shorter gearbox. I’ll be happy when I get my Twingo back though :p

Yeah it looks pretty sharp! Also instantly recognisable as one of their cars. Also the yellow makes it clear they are a Renault specialist, without even using the Renault logo

They are, it’s quite the difference with the Twingo II which looks a bit angry

For sure! Looks in pretty good nick as well!

It definitely is! It helps that it’s one of the last ones (2006 model) but it looks like they’ve taken great care of it.

I never remember that they were build all the way until 2006! :P

They even produced them until 2012 in Colombia! By that time the Twingo II had already been facelifted...

Sounds like the FIAT
126p I love so much! :P
Introduced in 1972, sold by FIAT until the early 80s, then dropped, but produced under license in Poland until 2000....all this for a car BASED on the original FIAT 500 that was introduced in 1957!!!
